2012 Lunsford Award Winner
In recognition of his musical talent as well as the essential role he plays in the traditional music community, Boyd Black has been named the 2012 recipient of the Bascom Lamar Lunsford Award. Boyd is the only original member of the Stoney Creek Boys. He has made many contributions to traditional music for over three decades, through his work with the Lunsford Festival, the Folk Heritage Committee, Shindig on the Green, and the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival. Across the board, Boyd is seen by musicians young and old not only as the backbone of the Stoney Creek Boys, but also as the kind of giving, dedicated person that helps create a foundation for the enduring legacy of traditional music.

She is the future. She has the grace, the style, the obvious talent, and she understands where it comes from.”
