2017 Festival

The 2017 Bascom Lamar Lunsford “Minstrel of Appalachia” Festival will be held October 6 & 7, 2017

Friday, October 6, 2017 Evening Concert, 7pm

The evening concert will feature the presentation of the Lunsford Award to clogger Jeff Atkins, remarks from President Lunsford, and special, surprise tributes to Bascom Lamar Lunsford and Fiddlin’ Bill Hensley. Tickets are available here.

Saturday, October 7, 2017 Daytime Concert, 10am-4pm

The daytime concert is free of charge and will feature traditional regional music, dance, crafts, and the annual Ballad and Story Swap (1:30-3:30 pm). All performances, except for the Ballad Swap, will take place on Mars Hill University‘s beautiful Upper Quad. The Ballad and Story Swap will take place in Owen Theatre, on the Mars Hill campus.
